New Zealand - 2004-11-13 - 2 - Lake Taupo - Sky Dive (Skydive Taupo - Brock)
One activity I knew I was going to do when I left was sky dive. It was
something that I had always wanted to do. Lake Taupo is one the most popular
places to sky dive in NZ because of the cheap rates. There are 3 companies
that are right next to each other. We picked Skydive Taupo. They picked
us up in a limo at 8, then we went to the dive center. They show you a
video from a previous jumper (to try to sell you the whole package). The
package that I went with was $480 for the 15,000 foot jump, DVD video,
digital camera pictures & T-shirt. They were only able to take 2 of our
3 people so Adam & Aaron went first. They both also jumped at 15,000 feet.
I hadn't been nervous until everyone else jumped at 12,000 & I saw what
the ground looked like from the open door. However, once I was out of
the plane it was all good. It is biggest rush I have ever had. The free
fall last 60 seconds & you are going over 200 mph. After the parachute
is pulled you gradually descend to earth & that is very relaxing. You
can just totally relax, it is a weightless feel & the view is spectacular.
Everyone should do at least one sky dive. I plan to do many more.
