New Zealand - 2004-11-26 - 1 - Punakaiki - Pancake Rocks (Page 1)
After a night out & a pretty good sleep I woke up & got ready to go to
the pancake rocks. However, the bus had left earlier than I had told it
would be. So I decided to start walking there & hope I could hitch a ride.
After about 10 cars a guy picked me up. The ironic thing is that he was
originally from the US, was a computer programmer & even knew where Madison
is located (one of the very few). We talked for the 15 minute drive there
& I learned that he had a computer business in New Zealand & he left the
US because he wanted a different lifestyle as well. He also gave me a
tour of the area & then finally dropped me off at the pancake rocks. There
I caught up with Jeff (US) & Nina (Germany), who has also hitched there
since the van didn't have enough room for them. The pancake rocks themselves
are gorgeous. Hopefully the pictures do them some justice. The video clip
is of sudden sound (so it is more of an audio clip). When the water rushes
in there is a loud 1-2 second sound.
