Australia - 2005-03-05 - Melbourne - Australian Rules Football Game
Saturday night was really fun. I caught the movie with Carrie, a friend
from my room. The movie was funny & was called Hitch (with Will Smith
& Kevin James). Then her & I went to the game & met up with 4 other people.
The Aussie Rules football game was really interesting. I went in not knowing
anything about it, but I learned the basics quickly & enjoyed the game.
It is a really rough game & they play without padding which makes for
some literally bone-jarring hits. I am surprised how hard that they hit
considering they are not wearing pads. The way they score points is by
kicking the ball through the posts. The inside one gets them 6 points
& the outside ones get them 1 point. The team from Carlton beat the Western
Bulldogs pretty badly (something like 127 to 65). We had some nice seats
to view the game from on the 3rd deck, it was general admission so we
were able to sit with our other friends. I would go to another game if
given the chance.
