Australia - 2005-04-09 - 6 - Grampians National Park - Road Shots & Lookouts
Once we got to Hamilton we got some water & information at the helpful
information center. We decided that we would get to Dunkeld which is at
the base of the Grampians, partly because we thought we could camp near
there in the park for free with some facilities. On the way into Dunkeld
you get your first view of the Grampians & at the pull off we checked
out MT Abrupt & MT Sturgeon. After checking the view we went to the
spot we were told about, but it didn't have what we thought, so we actually
stayed in town which worked out really nice. Also at the information center
we got an idea that we might be able to get the registration done where
we had been at in Hamilton on Monday (This was Saturday). So we decided
to take the next day to explore the Grampians & then go to Hamilton.
That meant that we were able to stop a little earlier & make our favorite
meal which takes a little more time, Mexican. After that we also got to
practice our language skills with each other. Adrian is polishing his
English & I am trying to learn German (some days are better than others).
It made for a nice relaxed night before our big walking next day.
