Australia - 2005-04-16 - 2 - South Australia - Emus & Drive (Page 1)
After Blinman we decided that we wanted to get most of the way to Coober
Pedy. We thought that there would be nothing to see between Flinders &
Coober Pedy. We also had to drive almost the entire way on unsealed roads,
which made for quite the bumpy, dusty ride. What we were mistaken about
is that their would be nothing to see. While there was no real stop at
& walk to sites, the landscape & roads were quite interesting. We drove
on dirt, rock, gravel & sand (the worst kind). By the time we got to where
we camped we realized that everything in the back was full of red dust.
We knew that it would be quite the effort to clean out, but had more unsealed
roads so we put off cleaning everything up. The first 2 pictures are of
emu's that we saw by the road. After that there are random pictures of
the mountains, hills, landscape, roads & colors. On page 2 the second
to last row is from the "town" of William Creek. The last 7 pictures of
the sand area that we drove around after William Creek. This is the day
where the flies really picked up. Before this they had been bothersome
in some places. But today they were downright unbearable. When we stopped
for petrol in William Creek the guy who pumped the gas had about 20 flies
on his face & he didn't seem bothered. I guess you get used to certain
things when you live somewhere for a while.
