Australia - 2005-04-18 - 2 - Mygoora Lake - First Salt Lake, Swimming & First Wild Camel
Our first stop on the way to the Olgas was the Mount Conner viewing point.
However, as we were walking up to the viewing point we saw a salt lake
in the distance that caught our interest. So we decided to make our own
path on the way to it. The first 3 pictures show the landscape on the
way to the lake. It was the most orange sand I have ever seen. The pictures
also show how totally white it looks in the distance. The next group of
pictures are of how it looks up close & how it looks when you go below
the surface. After that is my futile attempt of swimming on the lake.
When we started back we saw a wild camel. He would not let us get close
so the picture is a bit far away. But it did reaffirm that we were not
dreaming the night before when we saw a camel. Seeing a camel in the Australia
reminded me of my uncle Rodney (he had visited Oz with my parents a few
months earlier). He said that he had always wanted to get a group of wild
camels & cross the outback. Neither Adrian or I had seen a salt lake before
or a wild camel so the trip was considered a rather successful one :)
