Australia - 2005-04-30 - 4 - Karijini National Park - Circular Pools Walk
After talking to the visitor center we decided to buy a 28 day pass that
would allow us go to any park in Western Australia. It cost the same entry
would have for about 3 parks so considering we were going to at least
that many it seemed like a good deal. The rangers there also give us advice
on which sites to go. We wanted to swim & they said that we would be able
to go swimming at the circular pools. The walk itself was a great walk,
but when we got to the pools we realized we would have to wait until later
to find a swimming hole. The walk took us down into the valley. The second
to the last picture is the swimming hole. We don't think we missed a turn
& the walk ended when we got to that point because there was no more trail.
We saw the contour & color of the rock which is what Karijini is know
for & what you always remember about it. Also there would be huge fragments
of rocks, like the one where I am pictured in front of. Another interesting
thing about the park is the staggered rock formations that step up in
certain areas. You can also see this at the top of the ranges where they
are the smallest & get bigger as you work down. It is the effect of water
plus wind, compounded by time. After finishing the circular pools part
of the walk we stayed in the valley & headed the other direction to the
falls.
