Australia - 2005-05-22 - 4 - Warren National Park - Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree
Another stop at Warren National Park was the Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree.
This tree & other ones like it were used to spot fires a long time ago.
People would climb up into them & use them as lookouts. These trees have
pegs sticking out which you can use to climb to the top. The pegs are
just into the tree & there is no net below you. I didn't climb to the
top that day for many reasons. The first was the fact that it had been
raining so the pegs were slippery. Another was considering the fact the
pegs move at times when you step on them makes you worry. Lastly, you
have to come back down the same pegs, which is a very awkward process.
