Australia - 2005-06-08 - 3 - The Kimberly - Bell Gorge (Page 1)
Bell Gorge is a spectacular place to go for a walk. It is the most beautiful
place in the Kimberly & was our second favorite place to Lennard Gorge
only because there were other people here. Privacy & quiet in nature counts
for a lot, although there were not that many people here either. The second
picture on the first page shows the walking trail, as with everything
in the Kimberly it will not come easy, you have to earn it. The next 7
pictures are of the start of the walk that is along this little river
& of the plants we saw on this walk. Once you get through this it opens
up as you can see from the rest of the pictures on the first page. You
walk across the river, then down the hill to arrive at the waterfall that
is at the end of the first page & the second page. When we got there we
took a nice swim. I went all the way out to the waterfall & tried to climb
it, but it was too slippery & there was not good grips anywhere. Picture
61 on page 2 is the picture of a big hole. They were all around the water
at the waterfall, so I had to be really careful when walking in the shallow
areas. After hanging out down by the waterfall we went back up the hill
& continued the walk. After seeing some great boab trees, rocks & water,
we eventually got quite a way upstream & did another swim. After that
we went back around the original falls & around the other side of them
to get the views from above that you see at the end. We also saw skink
picture 107, page 4. We took quite a while at Bell Gorge especially when
you consider our 2 swims & the amount of walking. It was totally worth
it though. This was my favorite day of the Kimberly when you put together
Lennard & Bell Gorge. Lennard had the intangibles & Bell is incredibly
beautiful.
