The night before we had gotten to Kununurra late & decided to stay in a caravan park. It was my first time staying in the park, but knew it was nice, because Adrian & I had had free camped near it & used their bathrooms. That was actually nice because I knew exactly where I wanted to go once we were there. We took this chance to get rid of all the garbage we had accumulated from the trip, clean all the dishes, wash clothes, charge batteries & do everything else you simply can't in the Kimberly. We also met a few people there, one was a Japanese guy who Sayoko was able to talk to quite a bit. I am sure that it would be really tough to be here only talking to me all day, which is not even her language. It was always good when we could run into other people, especially for her if they were Japanese. Today & the next few day we were going to driving, we knew this, it was what we had to do to make the dates we needed & see Darwin, Litchfield & Kakadu, plus sell the truck all before flying out on the 20th.
The next morning we started out by going to the local garages to find a tire. We were successful & found one for $40 which they balanced as well. We had to wait a little while for the tire to be put on the rim, so we did some grocery shopping. After that we came back & got the tire changed, it was comforting to be back on the road with a spare tire. After leaving Kununurra we were quickly at the Northern Territory border. We said good-bye to Western Australia, with fond memories, it is an incredible place. We also tore the yellow sticker off the windshield to get over the not so fond memories :) To be fair we had gotten part of it corrected with the new tire! As soon as you cross into NT you are in the Keep River National Park which has great views along the road. It is one of the best parts of the road from the WA border to Katherine, the other being by Gregory National Park. The last 2 pictures show you what most of the road looks like to show you how nice the pictures of Keep Rive NP are in comparison.
