Australia - 2005-06-13 - 6 - Litchfield National Park - Sandy Creek Falls
Sandy Creek falls had less people than some of the other areas in the
park, although we did end up talking to other people while there. We saw
out to the falls. Sayoko used the swimming we had been practicing & was
able to get there which was great. There was an ability to do a little
rock jumping, but it was no more than 7 or 8 feet high. Either way it
was nice to be out to see the falls from below. Some other people came
out who I helped up onto the rocks, it could be a little tricky, you had
to learn where the steps were underwater which you could not see. We had
a good time at this place. The pictures don't really do justice to how
high these falls are, the amount of water that was coming down & the force
it had. We sat under it for a little while to get a falls massage. After
a while here we walked back to the truck & headed on. We had planned to
go to Surprise Creek Falls, but as you can see from the last picture it
was too big of a chance. The water looked very deep & sandy which is a
bad combo. In addition to that we were so close to Darwin, it just was
not worth it. Surprise Creek Falls were not a top attraction to the park,
still would have like to see them though.
