July
6 through July 8
After
diving in Nusa Lembongan on July 6, the Pro Dive van drove us
back to Kuta where we (Ngoc & Snorre) were all staying. I
had already paid for my last night in Kuta which was July 7, but
I had to find a place to stay on July 6. Troppo Zone was full
so we ended up staying just across from it. It was not as cheap
as we would have liked, but it was for one night & we were
tired by that point so it was good to have a place to stay. After
getting our things put in the room we went out for supper which
was good. After that we walked around Kuta & eventually ended
up back at the memorial where we talked for several hours about
so many things. I had a really great conversation with my friends
from Norway. After that we headed back to the room where we called
it a night. I thought about going out, but decided to just do
an early night & read more about the Asia countries I would
be visiting in the future months.
On
July 7 after getting up we caught breakfast. The most of the rest
of the morning was spend moving rooms to Troppo Zone & walking
around Kuta looking at things with Snorre & Ngoc before they
had to catch their flight. One funny thing that happened was that
Snorre was close to buying sunglasses (at the same place where
the guy had punched me in the back). I was watching from outside
because I did not want to go back into that store, but I saw this
same guy take Snorre's money & not give him the sunglasses.
So at this point I walked in. I asked Snorre what the deal was
& he told me. I looked this guy in the glasses & in my
hardest glare I told him to give his money back. I stared him
down until he timidly reached in his pocket & produced the
money Snorre has given him handing it back. I guess it is important
to note that people from Bali had commented to me how I was big
guy & I knew most people there were a little afraid of me.
I guess I look meaner than I ever realized! Walking out was gratifying,
because I had gotten a little revenge for what the guy had done
to me ;) Just a little after that I had to part ways with my friends
because they had to fly out. After that I spent most of the day
in the Internet cafe, it is so cheap there & I was able to
catch up with e-mail since I knew I would not have as much time
in Thailand. There was not much else I did for the rest of the
day other than reading & sleeping. It was mostly the same
the next day. I made sure to leave plenty early to get to the
airport. I left earlier than they wanted me to at Troppo Zone,
but I had seen how jammed traffic could get, and it did take longer
than they thought it would so it was a smart move.
As
I flew out I was excited because I knew I was going to Thailand
& I had heard so many great things about it from people. But
I also really enjoyed everything I did in Bali, I met some great
local & non-local people & learned so much about the culture
& how great the people from Bali can be. I have to say coming
into Bali I was worried about what I would see & how much
fun I would have. Bali really surpassed all of my expectations
& I am really happy I went there. If you get a chance to do
so I would do the same, just don't spend to long in Kuta &
you will have a great time. Also make an effort to get to know
the people, you will not regret it!
